Privacy Lawsuit Against Dr. Dre Reopened

Two years after the case was thrown out, Michigan appeals judges Elizabeth Gleicher and Michael Kelly have ruled that Dr. Dre must answer charges that he infringed on the privacy rights of 3 Detroit employees by taping their conversations.

The suit stems from a July 2000 concert stop of Dre’s memorable Up In Smoke Tour. The employees were secretly videotaped as they urged the concert promoters to not show the audience a video prop containing nudity.

The footage was later showcased on a DVD chronicling the tour.

While the workers held the taping violated their privacy rights, Wayne County Judge John A. Murphy dismissed the case in 2007. He cited that the workers had no claim to privacy, since their conversation took place in a room with an open door.

The two appeals judges reversed the decision this year, stating “we reject the notion that as a matter of law, parties may not conduct a private conversation…in a public place, or a location when nonparticipants in the conversation are physically present.

Furthermore, the judges specified that Dr. Dre’s distribution of the conversation to a nationwide audience “deprived the participants of their right to control the reach of their words.”

At press time, a new court date has not been announced.

Dr. Dre’s serially delayed Detox is still slated for release this year, although no set date has been verified.

Lil Wayne Celebrates 27th B-Day; Baby Gets New Tatt

Cash Money CEO Bryan “Baby” Williams recently showed off a new tattoo he received in honor of superstar artist Lil Wayne’s birthday, which was yesterday (September 27).

In a video hitting the net, Baby, Mack Maine, Wayne and other members of the Cash Money crew are seen celebrating Lil Wayne’s 27th birthday in a hotel room.

In addition to enjoying a diamond encrusted birthday cake, the rappers pop champagne, while Baby shows off his new tatt.

The clip features the Cash Money CEO showing off a huge tattoo down his right arm that reads “9-27-82,” Lil Wayne’s birthday.

Lil Wayne sports the new Chopard watch the Baby purchased, which is reportedly worth $1 million dollars.

In related news, the release date for Lil Wayne’s rock album Rebirth has been shuffled again.

The album has been held up due to sample clearances, as well as his rigid touring schedule.

Rebirth is now due in stores December 15 2009.

Nas “Nervous” About Airing Personal Biz on New Album

According to unspecified “reports” cited by MTV News, it would appear that the Nas/Kelis divorce is still on. Oh well, it’s probably for the best. Apparently he has a song(s) addressing the whole fiasco, because he recently told MTV UK that he’s a little scurred about airing his personal business on his next solo project.

“This is a record that, right now, I’m scared of making,” Nas said of the album. “I don’t know what’s gonna happen, as far as I don’t know what I’m gonna say. I feel like I’ve put so much of my personal life out there, and I feel like I’m one of the sort of guys you don’t really hear about [though] paparazzi or fan magazines all the time. But I just feel like my life is so much out there [now] that it’s kind of like — man, I don’t even know how to put into words how I feel about putting this record together. I’m a little nervous, to tell you the truth. That’s all I can say.”

I say go for it. If you don’t get your side of the story out there, the paparazzi/entertainment media/scumbag bloggers (hi!) are gonna run with whatever nonsense they can make up/overhear/speculate on.

This afternoon while in his Manhattan offices, employees say that 50 Cent was listening to Fat Joe’s new album, “J.O.S.E. 2″ when all the sudden, he collapsed! An ambulance was called, and by the time they arrived, 50 Cent regained consciousness and was complaining of blurred vision and a severe migraine. 50 Cent was rushed to Mt. Sinai hospital at 4:26 pm.

Doctors say after performing a Cat Scan and EKG there seems to be some damage to his auditory cortex, which is the region of the brain that is responsible for processing sound.

Israeli president discharged from hospital

Israeli President Shimon Peres was released from hospital Sunday, a day after he fainted in Tel Aviv, his office said.

Peres, 86, passed out Saturday evening after giving a speech.

He was revived a few moments later and taken to a hospital for further examination, spokeswoman Meital Jaslovitz said at the time.

No further details were immediately available.

Federer fined for U.S. Open final outburst

Roger Federer has been hit with a $1,500 fine for swearing at the umpire during his shock U.S. Open final defeat to Juan Martin Del Potro.
The world number one became embroiled in an argument with Jake Garner at the end of the second set after complaining Del Potro was taking too long to decide whether or not to make challenges.

The Argentine successfully overturned an "out" call shortly before Federer's outburst, a point that led to him breaking serve and eventually taking the set.

During the exchange Federer was picked up on microphones telling Garner: "Don't tell me when to be quiet, okay? When I want to talk, I'll talk."

Del Potro went on to claim his first grand slam, ending Federer's five-year unbeaten run at Flushing Meadows and denying the Swiss maestro a 16th grand slam title.

Police Seize Maradona's Earrings For Tax

Police have seized Diego Maradona's earrings - as part payment for the millions he owes the Italian taxman.
Maradona handed over the diamond studs while staying at a luxury hotel in Italy
Officials in the country paid the holidaying Argentinean football coach a visit, and seized the jewellery worth nearly £4,000.
They claim he still owes some £20m, dating back to his seven-year stint at the Italian club Napoli, when he frequently failed to pay income tax.
Maradona, 48, is currently staying at a spa in the town of Merano in north-eastern Italy, where he is trying to lose weight.
The Henri Chenot clinic was not available for comment.
Maradona fled Buenos Aires on Monday after four defeats in five matches left Argentina little hope of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.
In 2006, while staying near Naples prior to a charity match, Italian authorities took two of his Rolex watches worth £11,000.

In 2005, they seized the money he was to receive for taking part in a TV dancing show.

Four years earlier, he was met by 20 police officers as he got off a plane in Rome.
Italy's Supreme Court ordered the ex-footballer to pay 36 million euros in unpaid taxes.
According to the association of Italian taxpayers, Maradona still has 22.4 million euros to pay.
This week, Brazil legend Pele took a swipe at Maradona - saying he feels another Argentine-born player, Alfredo di Stefano, is the best player ever.
"Maradona was a great player, but he could not kick with his right foot and did not score goals with his head," he added.
"The only time he scored an important goal with his head, it turned out he had used his hand."
Pele was referring to Maradona's infamous "hand of God" goal in Argentina's 2-1 win over England during the 1986 World Cup, when he fooled the referee by punching the ball into the net.

Tweeters May Be Sued Over Jordan Rape Name

Damien Pearse, Sky News Online
Hundreds of Twitter users risk being sued for libel after speculating about the name of Katie Price's alleged rapist, lawyers have said.
Katie Price has refused to publicly name the man she says raped her

The social networking website has exploded with claims about the identity of the alleged culprit.

Price herself has refused to name him publicly but said in a recent magazine column that it was a "famous celebrity".

Police have contacted the 31-year-old model but have yet to receive an official complaint.

They have arranged to carry out a full interview with Price about the allegations in the near future.

Twitter is awash with speculation about the name of the alleged culprit, with hundreds of posts naming the same person.

He would have to act quickly though. Given the lightning speed of Twitter, he may already be too late as the minute one tweet is removed, another one inevitably follows.

Media law expert Ashley Hurst

Lawyers have warned that anyone naming the celebrity could potentially be sued.

Essentially, defamation means publicly making an allegation about someone which is not only untrue but is likely to damage their reputation.

Media law expert Ashley Hurst, of Olswang law firm, said: "An allegation of rape is very serious and highly defamatory.

"If the allegation is untrue, the accused could potentially sue anyone who publishes or repeats the allegation, including any individuals who have tweeted the allegation.

"And the damages could run into thousands of pounds."

He continued: "Twitter and other social networking websites may also be potentially liable although they will have a defence if they respond quickly to a take-down request."
Mr Hurst said that the celebrity in question might also be able to serve an injunction on the networking sites.

But he added: "He would have to act quickly though. Given the lightning speed of Twitter, he may already be too late as the minute one tweet is removed, another one inevitably follows."

A Surrey Police spokeswoman said Price had been contacted but had not been spoken to "in depth".

She said: "No report of rape has been made to Surrey Police. Officers have spoken to her. Officers will be following lines of inquiry into this offence."

Jacko's Estate: Mother Can Mount Challenge

Katherine Jackson and Michael in Santa Maria in 2005

The court in Los Angeles said Katherine Jackson can issue a challenge without losing her share in a lucrative family trust.
Lawyers for Mrs Jackson have said she wants a greater say in the way the estate - estimated to be worth about $400m (£242m) - is administered.
Jackson appointed his long-serving attorney John Branca and music executive John McClain as executors of his estate in a 2002 will.
Mrs Jackson's attorneys had asked the court to say whether she could make the challenge without violating a "no contest" clause in the family trust.
The family trust provides the 79-year-old with 40% of the estate, the singer's three children with another 40% and children's charities with 20%.
It was not immediately clear if Mrs Jackson would now formally lodge a challenge.
According to court documents, Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled that Katherine Jackson would not violate the no contest trust clause by mounting a challenge.
In one instance of her misgivings, her attorneys last month objected to a deal struck by the executors with concert promoter AEG Live for a memorabilia exhibition, saying they questioned whether the deal generated enough money for the estate.

E.Coli Outbreak: Another Child In Hospital

Fourteen children are now being treated in hospital after an E.coli outbreak at a petting farm, the Health Protection Agency has said.
The figure is up on the 13 who were in hospital on Tuesday, while the total number of cases linked to the outbreak has risen from 37 to 40.

Four of the children now in hospital are seriously ill, seven are in a stable condition and three are improving.

The latest update comes after the head of the HPA issued an apology to parents of those children left seriously ill by the outbreak at Godstone Farm in Surrey.

Justin McCracken said they knew about the first case at least six days earlier than previously stated.

"I wanted to speak personally to the parents of those children who are most seriously ill in hospital to explain what has happened and ... apologise," he said.

Godstone Children's farm where there was an E.Coli outbreak

"The position they find themselves in is unbearable and it is of course worse that what has happened might have been avoidable."

Initially, the HPA said that the first case had come to light on August 27 but an investigation found two cases were reported in the previous week.

Mr McCracken said: "If this information had been taken into account on August 27, then the advice given and the steps taken on September 3 would have been introduced earlier and the farm might have been closed earlier."

The confession means that Godstone Farm was kept open for at least three weeks after the first case was reported.

Two-year-old Todd Furnell, who was admitted to hospital alongside his twin brother with kidney failure, has undergone a second blood transfusion.

The boys' mother, Tracy Mock, said her sons would not be in hospital if the HPA had acted when it knew about the first case.

The position they find themselves in is unbearable and it is of course worse that what has happened might have been avoidable.

Justin McCracken, chief executive of the Health Protection Agency

"The fact remains that the farm should not have been open when my guys went there," she said.

"If we had known that earlier, we would never have gone to the farm and my guys wouldn't be in hospital."

The agency has said the outbreak could be the largest of its kind spread by animals, and more children may still be diagnosed with the bacteria.

It has commissioned an independent investigation into the situation to look into what caused the virus and how it was handled.

Mr McCracken said it was important to have a "full understanding" of the outbreak so lessons could be learned.

He said: "I am determined that this organisation makes whatever changes are necessary in response to the findings of the investigation."

Ms Monk welcomed the investigation and said she was pleased that the HPA "had the guts" to launch an independent inquiry

YALE UNIVERSITY STUDENT .SUSPECTED KILLER TAKEN IN CUSTODY.

More than a dozen officers joined FBI agents in storming the home of one of the university's animal research technicians on Tuesday evening.

The battered, bloodied body of 24-year-old Annie Le was found stuffed inside a wall in a medical lab on an urban campus in New Haven, Connecticut, on Sunday.
Investigators descended on the apartment of Raymond Clark, also 24, in Middletown, around 20 miles from the campus, with a search warrant.

He was taken into custody in handcuffs, New Haven police said.

Police chief James Lewis said officers were hoping to compare DNA taken from Clark with evidence collected from the crime scene.

A statement added: "Clark has not been charged in the death of Annie Le and will be released upon his compliance with the search and seizure warrant."

Officers have been keeping tabs on a circle of people connected to the lab where the victim was discovered.
Authorities remain tight-lipped on the case, which began when Ms Le was reported missing on September 8, days before she was due to be married.

Police said they have ruled out her fiance, a Columbia University graduate.

Meanwhile, state prosecutors blocked the release of Ms Le's post mortem results fearing it may hinder police efforts.

Although the investigation has been confirmed as homicide, the manner of her death remains undisclosed.

SOUTH AFRICAN ATHLETE FRUSTRATED BY THE WAY TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT..

The South African athlete at the centre of a gender row was reportedly subjected to humiliating tests even before the controversy erupted at the world championships.

Semenya celebrates winning the 800 metres final
Caster Semenya's feet were apparently in stirrups as photographs were taken of her private parts that left her "bitterly upset".

The incident is believed to have happened during her country's athletics trials on August 7, and she thought she was going to hospital for drug tests.

Wilfred Daniels, the former head coach of Athletics South Africa (ASA), was quoted as saying: "The tests took almost two hours.

"Semenya became frustrated and even angry over the humiliating nature of the tests."

She called and sent text messages to friends from the Pretoria hospital to tell them about her ordeal, the newspaper Beeld said.

Athlete returns to South Africa

The governing body of world athletics, the IAAF, ordered separate gender tests on Semenya after she convincingly won the women's 800 metres final at the world championships on August 19.

The results are not yet known but the IAAF declined to confirm last week's report in Australia's Daily Telegraph that the 18-year-old had both male and female sexual characteristics.

Some South Africans have accused the organisation of racism for ordering the tests.

They claimed her broad shoulders and imposing musculature were common in women's athletics.

Daniels resigned last month over how the Semenya case was handled by ASA.

Retired US track and field star Carl Lewis blamed ASA officials for Semenya's predicament, saying they had failed to protect her and to deal with the issue properly.

The athletics legend said: "To put it out in front of the world like that, I am very disappointed in them because I feel that it is unfair to her.

"Now, for the rest of her life she'll be marked as 'the one'."

Obama Warns Wall Street Over Bonus Culture

12:12am UK, Tuesday September 15, 2009
US President Barack Obama has warned Wall Street bankers they must not squander public trust further by awarding huge bonuses to top executives.

Obama in new warning to Wall Street
As America's economy begins to recover, he said banks must not return to the "reckless behaviour" and "unchecked excess" which he blamed for causing the worldwide financial crisis.
President Obama made his comments a year after the collapse of the Lehman Brothers investment bank, which helped triggered the meltdown.
Since then, many big banks have received huge government bail-outs using taxpayers' money.
Despite the battered banking industry starting to stabilise, he warned there were signs of complacency in the US financial system.
He said: "Unfortunately there are some in the financial industry who are reading this moment, instead of learning the lessons from Lehman and the crisis that is still recovering, they're choosing to ignore these lessons.
"They do so not just at their own peril, but at our nation's. So I want them to hear my words.
"We will not go back to the days of reckless behaviour and unchecked excess at the heart of this crisis, where too many were motivated only by the appetite for quick kills and bloated bonuses."

Liquid Bomb Plotters Jailed For 108 Years

6:04pm UK, Monday September 14, 2009
Four British Muslims who plotted to kill thousands of people using home-made liquid bombs have been sentenced to life in jail.

Life sentence: (L-R) Abdulla Ahmed Ali, Assad Sarwar and Tanvir Hussain
Abdulla Ahmed Ali, Assad Sarwar and Tanvir Hussain were found guilty last week of conspiracy to murder on transatlantic planes.
Umar Islam was convicted of conspiracy to murder, although the location was not specified.
At Woolwich Crown Court in south London, Mr Justice Henriques said the aircraft plot was the "most grave and wicked conspiracy ever proven within this jurisdiction".
"The intention was to perpetrate a terrorist atrocity that would stand alongside September 11 in world history," he said.
"I am satisfied that there was every likelihood this would have succeeded, but for intervention of police and security services."
Ali - who was described as the plot ringleader - was sentenced to life in prison, to serve no less than 40 years.
The judge told him it was unlikely he would ever be released.
I have concluded you are a driven and determined extremist with boundless energy and an ambition to lead a terrorist outrage of boundless proportion.Mr Justice Henriques to Abdulla Ahmed Ali
"I have concluded you are a driven and determined extremist with boundless energy and an ambition to lead a terrorist outrage of boundless proportion," he said.
"By this conspiracy you sought the attention of the world, and you now have it."
Sarwar and Hussain were both handed the same sentence, to serve at least 36 and 32 years respectively.
Mr Justice Henriques told Sarwar: "You were a student of jihad and martyrdom, and I have no doubt that your involvement in this conspiracy can be attributed to your extremism."
The three Muslim men planned to detonate the devices in suicide attacks on seven planes headed to major cities in the USA and Canada.
Their arrests in August 2006 caused travel chaos as hundreds of flights were grounded and thousands of people had their trips disrupted.
Bosses changed airport security, bringing in restrictions on carrying liquids on planes that are still in force today.

Umar Islam
The judge noted that emails presented as evidence in the retrial were "a vital source of information as to the control, progress and scope of this conspiracy".
"They establish beyond question the ultimate control of this conspiracy lay in Pakistan."
He added others in Pakistan controlled, monitored and funded the plot.
Each of the trio will be credited with the 1,132 days which they have already served behind bars.
Islam was also sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 22 years.
"Anyone who agrees to join a conspiracy to murder for ideological reasons like you did, must expect to be sentenced to life imprisonment," the judge said.
Three other men were found not guilty of the aircraft plot, while the jury failed to reach verdicts on the charge of conspiracy to murder.
The Director of Public Prosecutions said last week he would seek a retrial on the latter charge.
Ibrahim Savant, 28, of Stoke Newington, north London; Arafat Waheed Khan, 28, Walthamstow; and Waheed Zaman, 25, also of Walthamstow had their cases adjourned until October 5.

LIL MAMA ISSUES APPOLOGY FOR JUMPING ON TO THE STAGE WHILE HOV AND MRS KEYS PERFORMED

Rapper Lil' Mama has apologized for jumping on stage at the 2009 Video Music Awards ceremony after she leaped on stage during the finale performance by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.

“I did not mean any disrespect towards Jay-Z or Alicia Keys. I admire them and look up to them as role models," she said in a statement. "‘Empire State of Mind’ had my emotions running high. In that moment I came up onstage to celebrate my two icons singing about NY.”

The move comes after the Brooklyn-based rapper had been under heavy public scrutiny. Critics also opined on the move, citing it as nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Earlier in the night, Kanye West got on stage and interrupted an acceptance speech by Taylor Swift. He was reportedly escorted out of Radio City Music Hall, where the show was taped in New York.

Angelina Jolie’s recent trip to a camp housing Darfur refugees in chad

The first time I saw that in the camp it was obviously really shocking. They are people who are traumatized by the bombing [by Sudanese government forces attacking villages in Darfur and by war. The old woman may have had some dementia before. The reality is there are one or two aid workers for every 2,000 refugees. The same with the doctors, the therapists. The basic need there is to just try to keep these people safe. To keep the tents up in all the sand storms, try to get the food distributed and basic health-care needs. The chained woman started to beat her daughter with anything she could find. She kept hearing voices of the people yelling at her. So she feels constantly under attack. I'm no therapist, so I don't understand all the details. But when I did try to talk to her, she seemed pretty rational. But then she started aggressively telling me that I had to stop them from putting snakes on her. And for the people to stop yelling at her and for the bombs to stop dropping.

The little boy was a normal 3-year-old [now 7] who disappeared for 48 hours after [his village was bombed]. I can only imagine what he saw. Sure he saw death. And when found, he was found in a state… As a first reaction you want to remove the rope. But the mother, she has four other kids, she's by herself. Therapists visit him, but if he's left alone he will disappear or bang himself. I talked to him for like half an hour and just kind of looked at him for a long time before he touched me and there was a little boy in there who was open to a kind sound.… There's a normal little kid right there, but he's got a look of fear. He's nervous to touch. And you can feel that need for safety. The mother unfortunately can't not go work for the other children and can't sit with him all day long and hold him, which is probably what would do some good. But what he needs is probably some serious therapy. There arelots of children like him there. Lots of victims of war. It's a whole other thing that you usually don't get to address because they have to be so focused on the basic needs of survival. These are the many other casualties of the kind of war that is happening in Darfur.

KANYE'S APPOLOGY TO TAYLOR AND FANS....check it out

"I'm sooooo sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom," Ye wrote. "I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers! I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!

He continued, offering an apology, but explaining that in the "real world" he's "just real."

"I'm sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw. Welcome to the real world. Everybody wanna booooo me, but I'm a fan of pop culture," West continued. "No disrespect, but we watchin' the show at the crib right now 'cause ... well, you know! I'm still happy for Taylor Boooyaaawwww!!! You are very, very talented. I gave my awards to Outkast when they deserved it over me. That's what it is!!! I'm not crazy yall. I'm just real. Sorry for that. I really feel bad for Taylor and I'm sincerely sorry. Much respect."

The show went on without West, and Beyonce went on to take home the most awards, alongside Green Day and Lady Gaga, with three for her hit single "Single Ladies," while Green Day took home honors for "21 Guns", and Gaga took home the Best New Artist award.

The ceremony was closed out with a performance of the Big Apple anthem, "Empire State of Mind," by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. But, once again, another awkward moment took place. Much like Kanye did earlier, Lil Mama took a page outta his book and came onstage uninvited. As the pair wrapped the performance, Lil Mama came onstage for its closing, and stood next to them as they stood there in their b-boy stance. It was unplanned, but she made it seem like it was.

Here's the winner's list:

KANYE BOOTED FROM MTV AWARDS

So, the MTV VMAs went down Sunday night (September 13) in New York, and guess what? Kanye West made a scene again ... is anyone surprised at this?
At the beginning of the show, 'Ye stormed the stage in the middle of country star Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for Best Female Video, grabbed the mic and -- in short -- said Beyonce should've won the award.
"I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," West said, as the camera cut to Beyonce looking on from the crowd stunned. He then got boos from the audience.
With good reason, MTV had West escorted from the building shortly after.
Beyonce, later in the show, invited Swift onstage with her, so she could finish her speech, after winning Video of the Year honors.
"Thank you," said Beyoncé. "This is amazing, I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child, it was one of the most exciting moments in my life. So I'd like for Taylor to come out and have her moment. "
While this was going on, West took to his official blog (KanyeUniverseCity.com) to explain the situation -- in his usual all caps post.

Beyonce Wins VMAs Video of the Year, Gives Taylor Swift Her Moment After Kanye West Rant

In a classy display of selflessness, Taylor Swift got a do-over at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when Beyoncé brought the teen singer up following B's Video of the Year win.Beyoncé told the audience about her first VMA win as a 17-year-old with Destiny's Child and how much it meant to her. The singer then called Swift from backstage to huge applause.Earlier in the show, Swift won the Best Female Video award for "You Belong With Me" over B's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." But during her acceptance speech, Kanye West crashed the stage, took the microphone from her and protested the win, saying Beyoncé deserved it.B and Swift both wore bright-red dresses and exchanged a hug before Beyoncé passed the mic to the teen artist."Maybe we can try this again," Swift said, drawing a laugh."I would really like to thank Roman White, who directed the video, and Lucas Till for being in it," Swift said. "I would like to thank all the fans on Twitter and MySpace and everyone that came out to my shows this summer. And I would like to thank my little brother's high school for letting us shoot there."Swift barely had a moment to utter a word during her first acceptance speech early in the show; West took the microphone away from her almost immediately."I'm sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time," he proclaimed as B looked on from the crowd, stunned. West later left Radio City Music Hall after he was booed heavily for his rant.

Directed by Kenny Ortega, a longtime Jackson collaborator who was the stage director and creative partner for the tour, "This Is It" is made up of rehearsal footage of Michael Jackson as he prepared for the sold-out London concerts that his untimely death prevented him from performing.

Recorded between April through June 2009, "This Is It" will feature Jackson rehearsing, preparing and creating the show that was scheduled to take place during the summer of 2009, before Jackson died on June 25. There was over 100 hours of footage that this film pulled from of Jackson performing some of his biggest hits. The film promises to be one the most up-close and personal looks into Jackson's final days.

Executive produced by John Branca and John McClain, who are co-executors of Jackson's estate, the film will be distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, with tickets to go on sale beginning September 27.

At the VMAs, Janet Jackson paid tribute to her late brother as her father Joe Jackson and brother Jermaine Jackson sat in the audience. The show took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The 2009 Video Music Awards was be hosted by Russell Brand, and included performances by Beyonce, and Jay-Z.

GOSPEL KING CAUGHT UP IN KAMPALA RIOTS

Kirk Franklin caught in Riots in Kampala UgandaSeptember 11th, 2009
By Angela Benton, BlackWeb20.com

If you are surprised by the headline of this story you may not be the only one. Currently there are riots in Kampala Uganda and local newsources that would typically provide information to people caught in the mix are literally halted…atleast on the web. The Independent, a local Ugandan newsource, apparently is down because so many people are looking to it for information. They are communicating via Twitter In this day in age that shouldn’t be an issue right? Especially with so many people relying on Twitter as a source for information similar to a newswire. The main problem with that is information generally has to trend high enough to be distributed to masses on the platform. In this instance it hasn’t. Hundreds if not thousands of people (in Kampala and in the US who may have family there) literally have no idea what is going on from the ground. You are probably thinking that mainstream media has surely covered this in World News. No dice. Of course as far at the US is concerned it is September 11th so most coverage today has been focused on that. However, there is no mention of riots in Kampala on CNN.com which is often dubbed as the “King of News Media using Social Media.” MSNBC.com does have coverage in their world section. Most coverage is coming from the BBC and The Guardian (as seen from Google News). What has resulted is a handful of citizen journalist, one of who includes Gospel Singer Kirk Franklin who was caught in the riots yesterday, reporting what was going on from the ground there. We reported on this early this morning on Black Web 2.0, here is his own video account of what is going on via YouTube:
Franklin has reported that he is safe via his Twitter account.

M.O.P JACK A BEAT

M.O.P. STEALS A BEAT?
I don’t know what to make of this one. Fizzy Womack aka Lil Fame is a pretty good producer, but now a guy out of Philly named Kil is accusing him of jacking him for his beat and is seems like Fizzy admits to it.
Here is what the dude said and Lil Fame’s response is after:
Back in September 2008, MOP, Joe Buddens, Termanology and Big Shugg came down to Sonar in B'more and me and my peeps go to the show. I pass out beat cd's to Term, Joe and during MOP's show I give it to Laze E Laze's son who's the hype man. Now, fast forward to September 2009 and I'm listening to MOP's Foundation album on my way home from work and when track #9 "Rude Bastard" comes on....it's MY FUCKING BEAT! Not the same sample, the SAME BEAT! Drum programming, sample, chops...the whole damn beat! Then my man Mills does the knowledge for me to see who got credit for the track on the album and it says "produced by Fizzy Womack"! So...I don't get a check, I don't get credit...I don't even get co production credit! And I'm not looking for no "feel sorry for me" or none of that hoopla...I'm just asking for cats to let ANYONE who ya'll know who loves hip hop to know who did the track so I can @ least get credit from my peers (hip hop fans and other producer's grinding out there)for the beat. I've been grinding @ this beat thing for YEARS and for my first placement for a major artist to be a jack move...it just ain't right...but it is what it is...like I said do me this justice and @ least let the hip hop heads ya'll know that the bol Kil from Philly gave MOP THAT heat...not no fucking Fizzy Womack...

TIM-BOY SAYS SORRY FOR THE LEAK

TIMBALAND SAYS SORRY!
Timbaland finally comes forward to say sorry about the leaked tracks from Jay-Z’s Blueprint:
Jay-Z said: “Bleek’s my guy so he’s super protective, so he’s hurt. I think they hacked his account. I called (Timbaland) and said, ‘Hey man, what’s going on over there, what’s happening?’ The first thing he said was, ‘I don’t have the songs’. Then he thought about it for a day and the next day he called and apologized for it. That’s all I wanted to hear. They were all his songs, so obviously someone in his camp leaked the songs.”

50 SAYS WAYNE'S RHYMES ARE FLUCTUAL

When it comes to beef, 50 Cent is generally known for feuding artists at random, which often seems to go hand-in-hand with his marketing push for an album.
However, as he promoted his new book , The 50th Law, at Howard University he referenced Lil Wayne after a fan. The rapper mogul said,”He grew up on TV…he’s been on since he was 14-years old” and the crowd seemed to co-sign with applause.
Check out the whole dialogue with book co-author Robert Green and watch the intellectually barbed ideas of 50 Cent.

I've always had a crush on her,” he says. “I was on her show two years ago and she made me sit on her lap and was rubbing my arm. I don't know if she was acting, but I was taking that very serious. I feel like she needs a young man in her life." The episode, set to be aired on Monday Sept. 7, also sees Bow Wow serenade Banks with a song.

Chris Brown Trades Bowtie For Reflective Vest, Eight Hour Days
Newsroom Posted on 09/10/09 Filed Under: R&B News, Chris Brown
Chris Brown will be sporting a reflective orange vest when he reports to work over the next few months.
According to recently released details regarding his 1,400 hours of required service, Brown will also work an eight hour day with supervision.

"He will begin his 8-hour work day at 8:00 AM when a Department of Corrections bus picks him up, along with 30-40 other offenders," Richmond Councilman Conner told TMZ.

Conner also says there will be no opportunity for Brown to cut corners while picking up trash and litter along highways and roads. He’ll also trim brush along medians, remove gang graffiti from the VCU campus, and wash the inside and outside of law enforcement vehicles.

As previously reported, Brown's impending work is a result of a plea deal struck in his felony assault case.
